With the holidays upon us you may need some Christmas plumbing tips just in case a plumbing emergency comes up!
Kitchen
Garbage disposals can be a great help as long as you aren’t making them work too hard. Fibrous foods such as celery or corn husks can cause strain on your garbage disposal system. It is important to never put any fats or oils down the drain as these lead to extensive clogs. If you find yourself contemplating what to put down your garbage disposal go ahead and toss it in the trash.
Bathrooms
Adding a small trash can to encourage guests to toss any trash they may have instead of flushing it is huge! This will also encourage them to think before you flush. We often toss paper towels or cotton swabs down the toilet and this can cause major issues down the road. Also keeping a plunger nearby to help with any minor clogs is a smart move!
Septic Tank
Have you pumped your septic tank within the last 2 or 3 years? If your last pump has been longer than that it is time to get one scheduled. Having a full septic tank is the last thing you want to deal with while you have visitors in town.
